Selichot: Food, Worship and Bill
Murray?

Saturday night, September 8, marks an important point in our preparations for the upcoming High Holy Days. A special service is held late at night on the Shabbat before Rosh HaShannah. This service, called Selichot, emphasizes our need to renew ourselves for the new year, our efforts to repent for what we have done wrong, and our desire for forgiveness from God and from other people.

Our Selichot program and service will be on Saturday night, September 8 at 7:30pm. In addition to a beautiful service, designed to encourage contemplation and reflection, and a delicious dessert, we will be watching and discussing Groundhog Day, a 1993 comedy staring Bill Murray that explores the concepts of teshuvah (repentance) and making each day of our lives count. We invite all adults to join us for a thoughtful, meaningful, and enjoyable evening as we welcome the High Holy Day season.
