Our Rabbi

Rabbi David S. Widzer has served as the rabbi of Temple Etz Chaim since July, 2006. Raised in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio, Rabbi Widzer describes himself as “a pure-bred product of the Reform movement,” growing up very active in his congregation, especially its youth group. Reform Jewish summer camps have also been an important influence on him, as Rabbi Widzer has been a camper, counselor, educator and supervisor, as well as a rabbinic faculty member, at the Union for Reform Judaism’s camps in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, Zionsville, Indiana and Bruceville, Texas and at the NFTY National Leadership Center at Kutz Camp in New York. Director of Education

Wendy Bierman has been involved in religious education for over 25 years and in the Temple Etz Chaim community most recently as its Youth Educator. She has been a 4th grade Hebrew teacher and established and supervised the Learning Center since moving here, from New Jersey, 10 years ago.

Wendy is a graduate of Hofstra University in Long Island and had been actively involved in a variety of temples as an educator, advisor and Learning Center specialist in New Jersey. Having grown up in a Conservative environment and having gone to Central Hebrew High School, Wendy brings with her a solid background of Jewish values and education. Her sense of commitment to the Temple Etz Chaim community continues to be her focal point as she moves into her new position. She lives in Franklin with her husband Andy and has 2 children, a daughter, Rachel living in Westborough and a son Bryan entering his third year in college.
